What Type of Villain Are You? Discover Your Dark Side
Welcome to your villain era.
If your TikTok For You Page has been flooded with people dramatically putting on eyeliner to a slowed-down Billie Eilish track while captioning it "entering my villain arc," you already know: villainy is having a moment. But here is the thing nobody talks about on that 15-second clip. The fascination with villains is not new, and it is definitely not shallow. It is one of the oldest psychological impulses humans have, and understanding it might actually teach you something real about yourself.
Carl Jung called it the Shadow. He argued that every person carries a hidden side, a collection of traits, desires, and impulses that we shove down because society told us they were unacceptable. Ambition. Anger. Cunning. The desire for control. Jung believed that the more you ignore your Shadow, the more power it has over you. But the people who learn to face it, understand it, and even befriend it? They become the most self-aware, powerful, and authentic versions of themselves. In other words, knowing your inner villain is not about becoming one. It is about understanding the parts of yourself you have been taught to hide.
